Learn the Periodic Table the Fun Way

The Element Game is a free online periodic table game for kids ages 7–14. Instead of memorizing lists, kids learn element names, chemical symbols, and atomic numbers by playing — naming elements from their symbols, placing them in the periodic table, and comparing their properties. Every wrong answer becomes a gentle teaching moment with a fun fact, never a failure.

Three ways to play

• Name That Element — see a symbol like Fe, an atomic number, or a fun fact and pick the right element. Builds symbol and name recognition.
• Table Builder — tap the correct cell to place each element in the periodic table. Hands-on practice with periods, groups, and the table's shape.
• Element Showdown — compare two elements: which has more protons? Which is heavier? Which was discovered first? Builds understanding of element properties.

What kids learn

Six themed levels scaffold from elements kids already know toward the full table, the way chemistry is introduced in upper elementary and middle school:

• The basics — hydrogen, helium, carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen from air, water, and stars
• Kitchen chemistry — sodium, chlorine, iron, calcium, and potassium in food and the body
• Shiny things — gold, silver, copper, aluminum, and other metals kids recognize
• Noble gases and halogens — learning the periodic table's color-coded groups
• The first 20 elements, then a 36-element master mix across every group

Higher levels add Bohr model electron shell diagrams, and a built-in practice engine notices which elements a child finds hard and brings them back more often. As kids master elements they collect them, filling in their own periodic table — all 118 elements.
